I and someone else don't understand how they can list rides that they don't own. And the way we know they don't own them is because they aren't listed under the Illinois Department of Labor. http://www.state.il.us/agency/idol/Listings/Carnlist.htm That's misleading the public. They don't own a Wipeout, Swinger, a Tilt-A-Whirl, Scooters anymore, Moby Dick, and the Twister. And sure, this is from the beginning of Jan 2012 in which they could have bought 1 or 2 rides, but NOT all those rides.
http://www.allaroundamusementsinc.com/rides/rides.asp
This isn't the first year All Around has done this though because either last year, or the year before, they were listing Windy City's rides of 1001 Nachts, Fireball, Zipper because they played with them for Naperville's Last Fling.
I think they are putting rides on their website in which they are booking with. So, that Wipeout might be coming from Alpine, Swyear, or Wilson's Family Shows, but yet they are claiming that's their ride. That's not right in my opinion. __________________ Get Ready. Get Set. I just want to say something about the Wipeout front sign itself. This is only relates to this topic because All Around has a Wipeout on their website without a front sign. Some carnivals are choosing to get rid of that sign in front. I think that sign should be kept though because when the ride is going at least half of the time, you can't see the Wipeout sign in the back. The ride covers it up because the ride is raised high up in the air. Look at this for instance: http://www.wilsonsfamilyshow.com/rides/popup.asp?71L2.jpg
This is Alpine's that has a sign in front: http://www.flickr.com/photos/musher2012/7475917012/in/set-72157630363258852 __________________ Get Ready. Get Set. Spin Out. - Ride the Wave (Wipeout) - Force to the 10th Power - Electroshock(Power Surge) - Ping Pong or Tilt-A-Whirl (Yo-Yo) |

| with the wipeout sign in front, that is the original, but the others must have taken it down, but i remember when i was working on the wipeout the sign in the front is supposed to be there, but that is up to the show. |

It's possible those rides you mentioned, are no longer with All Around. They probably just didn't take the photos down.
I think some shows removed the front sign on the Wipeout to reduce maintenance costs on bubs. |

All Around's website is pretty new in the grand scheme of things. I don't know exactly how new it is, but it's much newer than most of the other carnivals. I will politely disagree with the fact that All Around never owned those rides. Sure, the Wipeout, Moby Dick, and the Twister they never owned. I have seen the Moby Dick, and the Twister at All Around carnivals this year, but I still want proof that they are All Around rides. Just because rides are traveling with them doesn't mean they really own them. For example, Kane County Fair has All Star's Yo-Yo, and who knows if that Yo-Yo will go to Dupage County Fair too..
Anyway, the Tilt-A-Whirl I haven't seen for 5 years with their carnival. Time goes faster than it seems though so it could be much more time. Their Swinger I have seen with them maybe some 15 years ago. That was the one in which some kid fell out of it at St. Stan's carnival in Chicago. Than, they got rid of it. For the Scooters, that picture is NOT the Scooters they had. They had the Scooters before they got the Force 10, and they had that Force 10 for awhile now. Again, I don't know how long, but it seems like 10 years. Their Scooters were either sold, or traded to Modern Midways.
They did this last year. I'm 100% positive that they just slapped up Windy City's Zipper on their website, and it's on an All Around website. This was last year. They since took that down now, but that's what they did.
Imagine if every carnival could do that. Fantasy could put a Zipper, Alpine Bobs, Wipeout, Orbiter, KMG Inversion, Yo-Yo, Gravitron, etc on their website. __________________ Get Ready. Get Set. Their website looks pretty much the same as it did four years ago with the exception of the new for 2012 and few photos. The last time I viewed it. The Hamptons, mgr, Tilt, Bumper cars, and a few other photos I remember. If you click the About tab, it shows a Himalaya and Hi Flyer. Do they still have the Himi? What about the Hi Flyer?
It's not uncommon to see other rides on a company website, even if they don't own them. RCS advertises Bishop's rides (Evolution, Tango, Megadrop, Skyflyer, etc.) on their website. |

They don't have the Hi-Flyer, but they still have the Himilaya. Their Himilaya looks so bad that they won't even put it on their website...
To me, that's still false advertising, and it's deceiving. And that doesn't surprise me that All Around would do something like that. They were the first ones to think of not having a roof on the Himilaya, and than a lot of these carnivals are copying them, and than that ride looks crummy without one. Than, they can't understand why in the heat, people aren't at the carnivals, and they also can't understand when it rains, why everyone is leaving the carnival all at same time, but making your carnival looking rundown. No roofs on Himilayas, and Scooters look terrible, and there goes the shade in 90 degree heat. Who decided to make look rides bad all this time?
Basic Life advice is appearance is everything. Have some class. Instead, it's hurry up and get out of there as fast as possible, and who cares how many customers you get for the day. __________________ Get Ready. Get Set. To some it may look deceiving or like you said false advertisement. However there are many rides with individual owners who may or may not work on the show(s) as employees. Or possibly they're independents who work specifically with that show and/or other shows in the area. It's a way of showing a potential client what we have available. Not necessarily what we own.

UPDATE:
Illinois Department of Labor updated their website, and All Around does own the Moby Dick, and the Tornado.
However, they still don't own a Tilt, Wipeout, Swinger, Scooters, and the Cliffhanger.
Also, there Force 10 is no longer listed plus I seen it up for sale on some site. So, they either have sold it already, or just aren't using it anymore. __________________ Get Ready. Get Set. I think you might be looking at Spectacular's Cliffhanger they are traveling with sometimes. Now, if they are playing with Windy City, the Cliffhanger has moved to 1st unit along with the Pharaoh's Fury, so now it could be that one. __________________ Get Ready. Get Set. Spectacular never owned a Cliffhanger. They had a Hang Glider or whatever it's name was, which was converted from the Zender. Both are slightly different looking.
However D&J had a Cliffhanger up in Wisconsin which could be theirs (recent purchase) or possibly All Arounds, since from the recent photos I've seen, it appears All Around and D&J are working together on some spots. |

Yes, I know that. They called it Wing Glider at one point.
And here it is with another carnival now: http://www.davisamusement.com/spectacular.html
I have a feeling Spectacular's (D&J) had to be sold until they got more money, so they got another one. Where did Alpines come from? To me, it seems like they got theirs when All Around's got rid of theirs. __________________ Get Ready. Get Set. That one looks like their old one but hard to say. I'd have to dig out the photos of it. There's a few outhere which carry the names Hang Glider, Wing Glider, Wind Glider. Spectacular's was up on usedrides in the winter of 2010. Along with other pieces.
Alpine's most likely came from elsewhere. All Around still had theirs at that time. Back when Spectacular did Winter Wonderland at Navy Pier they had Alpine's there. All Around had theirs or someones in the yard. |
